About Northern Constructions Group

In March 2000, Owner and Managing Director, Damian Smith acquired the well established business of Northern Constructions and continues to demonstrate commitment to delivering a broad range of services within the Earthworks and Civil Constructions market.  

Northern Constructions Groups (Aust.) Pty Ltd  currently maintains a permanent employee base of 50 and expands to 80 or more during major projects, along with several inducted sub-contractors on the ready for workload increases, and operates from new premises at 33 Mundarra Road, Echuca, Victoria.

In May 2012, Northern Constructions Group merged with Shepp Civil in order to increase our infrastructure and provide greater levels of support to our clients across Victoria and Southern New South Wales. 

Northern Constructions Group (Aust.) Pty Ltd has developed strategies to manage a growing employee base and currently manages an accredited Integrated Management System that caters for Quality Assurance, Occupational Health and Safety and Environmental requirements.  

Incorporated in the development of the Integrated Management System is the identification of key performance indicators. Northern Constructions Group (Aust.) Pty Ltd has recognized the six key expectations of our customers as being:

Northern Constructions Group (Aust) Pty. Ltd. is in the business of civil constructions & earthworks together with associated products and services.  We provide our customers with quality goods and services by anticipating and fully satisfying their requirements and establishing a standard of excellence.  We recognise that OH & S, Environmental & Quality responsibility is a vital part of our business.

In order to demonstrate and facilitate our commitment to OH & S, Environment and Quality Management and continuous improvement, our aim and intent is to maintain an Integrated Management System (IMS).

Northern Constructions has the experience and expertise to undertake varied types of projects, with a reputation within the industry of being a quality civil works and earthmoving construction company.  The company has over 30 years of experience and has successfully completed many construction projects throughout regional Victoria and NSW.  We are committed to providing professional quality service at all times.

Policies and Objectives

The Company Policy is to:

  • Work profitably with all our clients
  • Work with government authorities, private clients, consultants and subcontractors in an ethical and legal manner with written contract agreements
  • To deliver our projects to clients on time and on budget with the intention of satisfying the expectations of the client and supervising personnel
  • Maintain a level of customer focus with the public that the clients and authorities would be expected to provide themselves
  • Providing evidence throughout, that all works have been constructed in accordance with the contract specified requirements
  • Use toolbox meetings with employees and the client with the aim to work in a safe and healthy manner at all times
  • Use toolbox meetings with the aim of ensuring environmental integrity is maintained on all projects
  • Use professional advice where necessary to ensure that our company satisfies the legal requirements of the Health and Safety and Environmental Protection Acts or any other legislation covering the projects we work on.

Our objectives are to:

  • Increase our profit by reducing rework and minimising waste in all processes
  • Keep up with technology, training, plant and equipment changes
  • Provide the level of quality in the work carried out that is not less than that specified within the contract
  • Have zero workplace notifiable incidents and less lost time injuries than is annually targeted by the company
  • Maintain or improve in co-operation with the client, the environmental integrity of the areas we work in
  • Ensure our suppliers and subcontractors operate with the same objectives in mind
  • Strive for continued improvement of service delivery through measurement of waste and rework and reviews of the management system and our objectives.

We achieve this by having a suitably trained, competent and committed workforce who understand the objectives at hand.
